TB DRIVE SHAKEDOWN SPECIAL – THE Blues Rock Overdrive
The TB DRIVE SHAKEDOWN SPECIAL combines two custom overdrive circuits in a single enclosure, designed around the raw, expressive blues rock tone Tyler Bryant is known for. Paired with a slightly driven amp, it delivers everything from gritty rhythm sounds to powerful, cutting lead tones, nothing more, nothing less. Developed in close collaboration with Tyler Bryant, this pedal focuses on feel, dynamics, and touch sensitivity rather than excess gain or compression. It reacts directly to your playing, your guitar, and your amp. Two custom overdrive sounds in one pedal, perfectly matched for classic and modern blues rock applications.
FEATURES
- This sound has a name: Tyler Bryant.
- Two custom overdrive sounds in one pedal, perfectly matched for classic and modern blues rock applications.
- For rhythm parts, Tyler uses the left overdrive in High Gain mode (with the 909 toggle activated), delivering a tight, punchy drive that stays articulate and raw. For solos, the right overdrive is stacked in series, adding sustain, authority, and harmonic richness, direct, uncompromising, and effective.
- Whether in the studio or on stage, this is the exact sound Tyler has relied on for years, consistent, unmistakable, and without compromise.
- The pedal features a specially designed mechanical True Bypass circuit combined with optimized noise suppression, resulting in near silent switching, ideal for professional stage use.
- Handcrafted in Germany, the TB DRIVE SHAKEDOWN SPECIAL delivers maximum dynamics, tonal authenticity, and flexibility for musicians who demand uncompromising performance and true blues rock character.
CLEAN / DRIVE
In front of a clean amp
When you run the pedal into a clean or slightly breaking-up amp, you get an open, blues-rock overdrive sound with plenty of clarity and bite. The tone stays focused, articulate, and cuts through the mix without losing its raw character.
If you want more gain from a clean amp, simply stack the drives by engaging both sides in series, exactly the way Tyler uses it. This delivers a serious amount of extra gain while keeping the sound musical and controllable.
Important: Balancing the level controls of both drives is key to maintaining an open, dynamic response that never feels compressed or congested.
In front of a driven or distorted amp
In front of an already driven amp, the pedal reveals its second strength, this is where it truly shines for blues rock. The tone becomes more immediate, more defined, and more aggressive, adding gain and sustain without masking the core character of your amp. Instead of reshaping the sound, the TB DRIVE pushes the front end naturally, blending seamlessly into the amp’s existing breakup. The result is a faster response, richer harmonics, and a lead tone that feels alive and organic, exactly the way Tyler plays.
Tyler Bryant:
I’ve used this pedal at every session and every show since I got it. With this box, I can walk into any situation and know that I’m gonna have the horse power I need.
Tyler Bryant plays this pedal consistently since 2017, live and in the studio. Reliable, full of character, and a permanent part of his sound.

FAQ
Noise / Side Noise:
Level controls: Two completely independent pedals in one enclosure!
Each sound of the TB DRIVE operates fully independently. To keep the interaction perfectly balanced, the level controls should be carefully adjusted. Running all two channels at maximum settings produces extremely high output levels and may cause the pedal to become difficult to control. With finely balanced level settings for each channel, the sound remains precise, dynamic, and fully controlled.
Power Supply: 9V DC – 18V DC:
The pedal can be operated with 9–18V DC. Regardless of the supplied voltage, the internal circuitry remains fully stabilized, ensuring that the fundamental tone does not change. The standard operating voltage is 9V DC, this is also how Tyler Bryant runs the pedal.
Higher voltage operation is possible, but not required.
Power Supply Notice:
For noise-free operation, we recommend using a stabilized, well-shielded power supply. Some digital power supplies, especially those with insufficient shielding, may cause hum or high-pitched noise.
When using a multi-output power supply, the outputs should be galvanically isolated from each other.
Any noise issues do not originate from the pedal itself, but are usually caused by an unsuitable power supply or an unfavorable device combination. It is possible that a power supply works perfectly with one pedal but produces noise with another.
If noise occurs, we recommend the following test:
Connect the pedal directly to the amplifier, do not connect a guitar, and power the pedal using a separate power supply. When switching the pedal on, only operation or gain-related switching and control noises should be audible, no hum and no high-pitched noise. This test is an effective way to check the pedal independently of the rest of the signal chain.
